Affiliated Records started in 1997 when Richard Hentosh was fresh out of high school. Known then as SHORTY OUNCE, Richard Hentosh tried to get a major record deal but with no prior sales or connections he was turned down numerous times. Fed up with all the rejection he picked up a book and started reading. From one book to another in one month Rich had read 10 different books on the music industry and it gave him an idea. "I was learning all this stuff within these different books it almost seemed too easy for someone like me to do this without a major record company".

So Rich called up a few partners and Affiliated Records was born. But please don't think this was an overnight success because it wasn't. From 1998 until 2001 Rich moved and negotiated his way into many of the biggest offices in the game and finally scored nationwide distribution for his 1st release "Living My Life". After a sour deal with 101 Distribution Rich went back to the lab and started building an impressive catalog with 3 of his artists to present to the next distributor that would be interested in his label.

Fortunately a few were biting it was only a matter of time. Now in 2006 with 2 releases under the company's belt which have sold over 100,000 units and 3 more prepared for retail Rich has no choice but to be on top
